Summer in Paris 2019: Things to Do

Summertime in Paris is finally here which means it is time for festivals, picnics, salsa dancing on the Seine, outdoor movies, Paris Plage, and the many fun pop-up events and activities. Summer in Paris is hands down one of the best times to enjoy the city. This is also the time of year when people head on holiday, and the city begins to clear out. If you happen to be in Paris, it is the perfect time to take advantage of the plethora outdoor seasonal activities going on. Below you will find some summer inspirations of things to do.

JUNE

Roland Garros ( French Tennis Open) -until June 10

We Love Green ( Music Festival) - June 1-2

Natural Hair Academy ( Annual natural hair expo)- June 8

Fete de la Musique ( Music celebration all throughout France) - June 21

Soldes d’été ( Annual summer sales throughout most stores in Paris. This is the perfect time of year to refresh your wardrobe at a discounted price)- June 26- Aug 4

JULY

FNAC Live Festival ( 3 day series of #FREE concerts at Hotel de Ville)- July 3-5

Patate X La Felicita (Patate, fitness pop-up event is teaming up with La Felicita restaurant to offer a morning of sports) Check out more details here . July 6

Paris Jazz Festival ( 4 weekend of Jazz concerts at Parc Floral)- July 6- 28

14 Juillet (Fête Nationale aka Bastille Day)
- Enjoy celebrations for the French National holiday with fireworks at the Eiffel Tower or check out one of the annual Fireman’s balls ( Bals des Pompiers) throughout the city - July 14

AFROPUNK Paris ( The line up is pretty cool this year with performances by Solange, Janelle Monáe, Masego, Ibeyi, Lizzo, and many more) -July 13-14

Cinema en Plein Air ( Outdoor movies at Parc de La Villette) - July 17- Aug 18

Sunday Groove at Wanderlust ( Great way to end off the weekend with an outdoor day time party)- All summer long

AUGUST

Paris is pretty much rid of Parisians which makes it perfect to explore the city with fewer crowds and take advantage of things you don’t normally have time to do.

Jazz à la Villette ( annual Jazz festival that keeps summer alive at Parc de La Villette)- Starts Aug 29th

Rooftops

If you are looking for a rooftop or summer pop-up terrace here are a few summertime favorites:

Polpo Brasserie ( Specialized in Seafood and located right on the Seine River)

Creatures ( New pop-up rooftop bar/restaurant at Galeries Lafayette)

Le Perchoir ( Multiple locations, all with rooftop bars and great city views)

Brach ( New boutique hotel with rooftop bar, its a bit pricey but the Effiel Tower view is stellar)

La Papa Cabane ( large rooftop terrace that will host Afro-Latina After Works every Friday until Sept 1 from 6-11pm)

Picnic Spots

Summer isn't complete without having a picnic. Grab your picnic basket, a bottle(s) of rosé, an assortment of snacks and gather up your friends. Paris is full of squares, gardens, and parks to choose from, below you can find a few favorites:

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont ( green scenic atmosphere, my favorite spot to set up a picnic is near the lake)

Parc Monceau ( beautiful park, family friend and lots of green space for a picnic)

Parc André-Citroën ( located in the 15th arrondissement, surrounded by lots of greenery and there is even a hot air ballon observation deck that you can take a ride for a great view of the city)

Jardin des Tuileries ( Royal garden feels)

Parc Martin Luther King ( located in the Batignolles Neighborhood perfect for a less crowded picnic)

Île de la Cité ( Perfect for a picnic along the Seine River)

Parc de Sceaux ( For a day trip outside of Paris)
